Ridesharing has become one of the most popular and convenient means of transportation over the past several years. From large cities to small towns, platforms such as Uber or Lyft are now helping people get to their desired destination. While ridesharing can save the user time and money, it can also involve some safety risks.

Here are some safety features to consider when using a ridesharing platform:

1. Always Verify Driver Information: In most ridesharing apps, when a driver is assigned to you, you will be able to see the driver’s name, photo, license plate, and the make/model of the car. This feature should not be ignored, especially in densely populated areas where there could be multiple vehicles in the area.
   
   
2. Share Your Trip Information: Many ridesharing apps allow the passenger to share their trip information with an outside person. Even if the app does not have this feature, sharing your location and arrival time with a family member or friend could be a good precaution.
   
   
3. Track Your Route and Stay Aware: Watching the route on the ridesharing app can help you stay aware of where the driver is going – and that they are sticking to the correct route to your specified destination.

• Look for ride-sourcing vehicle markings to verify what company the driver is working for, such as an Uber or Lyft sign.
• Always wear a seatbelt while in the vehicle.
• Sit in the back row of the vehicle.
• Stay alert and avoid distractions such as wearing headphones or looking at your phone for long periods of time.
