Insurance 101: Intro to Telematics

Telematics uses technology, often through an app on your smartphone, to provide information about your driving habits.

Depending on the program, factors such as braking, speed, distracted driving, and when you drive may contribute to your driving score.

There can also be benefits beyond simply receiving a score. Some programs allow participating drivers to review individual trips, see driving performance, and identify opportunities to build safer driving habits.

Using a driving app means sharing information about how you drive. Before enrolling, take time to understand what information will be collected and how it will be used.
